Baldur's Gate/Tales Of The Sword Coast English-Language Game Text Update v1.1 (2001 - July - 07) (MD5 hash 96E6A131A7831F95A565EA5E327DEFB3) vastly improves all the game text: gives hints to hidden outdoor objects in the game that were nearly impossible to find without spoilers, corrects the effects and descriptions of many items, provides greater consistency in many elements and corrects hundreds of typos/grammatical/punctuation errors. Self-installing, 1.11MB. Do not install this update if you have TeamBG's Dark Side Of The Sword Coast MOD expansion installed.

Baldur's Gate English-Language Game Text Update v1.0 (2001 - July - 07) (MD5 hash 6E4DCACC67F222EC39CBCFE24021C912) is exactly as above, but for those who haven't installed the Tales Of The Sword Coast expansion. Self-installing, 1.03MB. Do not install this update if you have TeamBG's Dark Side Of The Sword Coast MOD expansion installed.

FixPack v1.1 (2001 - July - 07) (MD5 hash 940007D1971E34CC96793EC931D289E2) contains all of the fixes below in a self-installing executable that will find your Baldur's Gate Override folder. This will be updated as I create more fixes. 105KB. (Note that only one of the files fixed: TRAPDIS.BCS, was changed by the patch. It will be backed up to the main BG folder, but if other files happen to be present in the Override folder they will be overwritten. This is the same thing the patch does.) This update may be installed with or without the Tales Of The Sword Coast expansion present. It hasn't been tested with TeamBG's Dark Side Of The Sword Coast unofficial expansion, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work properly with it.

Ordulinian Quest Reward Fix resolves the dialog bug that caused the quest reward item to not be given, though it's clearly indicated in the corresponding dialog that an item is being presented. |
Magic Missile Damage Fix corrects the damage done by Magic Missile (both enemies' and players') from 2D3 to 1D4 +1, as it should be. This fix replaces the Wand Of Magic Missiles fix previous as I was able to correct the damage properly. You can delete WAND03.ITM from Override. The FixPack will do this by itself. |
Aldeth Sashenstar Betrayal Fix restores this neglected event and ties up several loose ends with Aldeth's behavior in Chapter 7, as otherwise if he is spoken to after Candlekeep he will betray the player to... Biff The Understudy, as the Flaming Fist Enforcer creature definition was completely missing, as well as several dialog commands, creature AI and updates to two area scripts. |
Ulgoth's Beard Residents Hostile When Cult Attacks Fix corrects the leftover AI bug that would cause several Ulgoth's Beard residents to become hostile while fighting the Aec'Letec cult outdoors. |
Bone Wardstone Doesn't Disable Rune Traps Fix resolves the bug with this "key" not disabling the traps as indicated due to an incorrect range reference. |
Game Crash When Entering AR0717 Fix resolves the invalid reference bug that caused a crash to desktop when entering the house just east of the carnival in the city of Baldur's Gate. |
Tremain Belde'ar Dialog Crash Fix resolves the invalid replies counter in his dialog definition that would cause a crash to desktop if options 2 then 1 were chosen. |
Alignment By Class Table Fix corrects the alignment restrictions for multi-class thieves, who were being restricted from all Lawful alignments instead of just Lawful Good. (This bug was also carried over into Baldur's Gate II: Shadows Of Amn.) |
Gauntlets Of Ogre Power Fix corrects the undocumented restriction against these gauntlets being usable by Bards. This was also carried over into Baldur's Gate II: Shadows Of Amn, and Senior Designer David Gaider confirmed that Bards should be able to use this item. |
Thief Scimitar Use Fix corrects the inconsistency of thieves not being able to use any Scimitars but Drizzt Do'Urden's. As scimitars are a rarity, Drizzt's are by far the most powerful, there's no good reason why they should be restricted in the first place (as they are equivalent in damage to a long sword and have a faster speed factor) and thieves have full access to Scimitars in Baldur's Gate 2, I've opened the rest up to thief use. |
Killing Marl XP Exploit Fix eliminates the exploit of being able to calm Marl down in Feldepost's Inn in Beregost for experience, and then kill him for more experience and no loss of reputation or consequences even though he is then a harmless, neutral innocent. Appropriate consequences will now apply. |
Three Old Kegs Noblewoman Exploit Fix eliminates the exploit of charming this unnamed noblewoman and repeatedly talking to her for 500 gold each time. This was a definite bug caused by an embedded script command mismatch. |
Taerom Fuirium Ankheg Shell Exploit Fix eliminates the exploit of being able to sell Ankheg shells repeatedly to the Beregost blacksmith. Another definite bug: the embedded script command to limit this to one choice between selling shells or making armour was present, but was not being accessed due to an invalid pointer reference. |
Albert Giving No Reward For Rufie Fix corrects the puzzling omission of Albert saying that he is giving the player "... another of his chew toys..." (Rufie's) when leaving, but giving nothing. He now provides an appropriate "chew toy," perhaps retrieved from someone in the area. :^) |
Gorpel Hind Summons Many Maulers Fix resolves the oversight where talking to Gorpel Hind repeatedly causes the Maulers Of The Undermountain to appear every time. |
Arrow Of Biting Fix corrects the erroneous Strength bonus (that only hurled weapons should have) these arrows were giving. All three varieties (player's, enemies' and Eldoth's personal Poisoned Arrows) were affected. |
Jalantha Mistmyr Pickpocket Exploit Fix corrects the oversight by which the body of Tremain Belde'ar's son can be pickpocketed from the Umberlant priestess (without her even noticing...) You'll still be able to filch the Geas Removal Scroll from her. |
Ramazith Pickpocket Exploit Fix eliminates the exploit of being able to pickpocket Ramazith's Ring Of Protection +2 from him, meaning that he will drop another when slain at the top of his tower. |
Oublek Emerald Bounty Exploit Fix eliminates the exploit of being able to collect the bounty from Oublek twice if Prism's emeralds are returned to him one at a time. |
Bandit Scalp Pickpocket Exploit Fix resolves the humourous oversight for all the bandits in the game (and there are 22 varieties of them) that their scalps could be pickpocketed from them. |
